It’s been over a fortnight since my last blog post and a lot has happened. Dirt Factory is approaching 200 likes on facebook which is great, and we are well over 60 complete surveys which provides some very useful information, lets keep em coming (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2695KR7). I also managed to squeeze in a trip up to Glentress with a couple of mates, which was cool, yeh dawg!
Back to business, I’ve been promoting Dirt Factory at bike shops and indoor snowboarding venues around Greater Manchester, first impressions were all very positive and the places were happy to display Dirt Factory flyers on their reception desks, it’s a start. I have got a lot more places to visit yet. Also ‘More Dirt’ kindly put a Dirt Factory article on their website http://www.moredirt.co.uk/features/Indoor-MTB-BMX-skills-centre-in-Manchester/3317/
I have also decided to expand a little, I thought it was time someone else jumped on board, I have always had this person in mind, so yesterday I asked Mark McClure (www.try-cycles.co.uk) if he would join me and help turn Dirt Factory into a reality – if you know Mark you will already know how passionate he is and the positive impact he has had on mountain biking through working with schools and community groups around Oldham, plus he has a fair few trails he has designed, built and managed around the UK. A real great addition to Dirt Factory. Mark was at the NEC cycle show yesterday too, promoting Dirt Factory, he was speaking to a lot of people and handing out flyers, but in particular he got to speak to Gary Fisher, a living legend. For those of you who are not sure who he is, just check this link out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Fisher
Mark was discussing with Gary the benefits of a project like Dirt Factory, and Gary was loving it, he said Rays MTB park over in the US has done so much for local communities over there, what a ledge!
So what next, I am going to continue working hard marketing and promoting the idea, I plan to meet up with a number of schools, colleges and universities within the next couple of weeks to hopefully get my foot in the door and share our concept. I have also got business plan, logistics plan and financial stuff to finalise, boring ey, but it needs to be done! Please keep the survey responses coming.
